[Professional Blog] Tell me yours and I'll...

Published on November 30, -1

Let's make a deal. I'll tell you my most memorable Canadian music moment in exchange for you telling me yours. It's a fitting exercise with Juno Week a few sleeps away and a wave musicians and music types about to crash against our shores and on some people's couches. There's no need to be elaborate. Just a few lines about an experience (good or bad) you had listening, watching or playing Canadian music, like getting slapped the face for going too far as Bryan Adams' Heaven played, changing the words to Helix's Rock You, or being told you sound (or look) like Geddy Lee. Here's mine: New Year's Eve 1999. Great Big Sea is playing on the waterfront, as St. John's is the first place in North American to ring in the new millennium. There's all this fear and fuss about the Y2K bug and disaster when the clock struck 12, but 90,000 people are there reveling and singing along to every word. It was exceptionally cool to just stop and listen. OK, so what's your most memorable Canadian music experience? Post it using a valid e-mail address and go in a draw for Juno swag.

In the mid 70's i might have been 10, but i remember sitting on my brothers shoulders in Memorial Stadium, about 15 rows back from the stage, when the band shot off a cannon full of confetti. It was my first rock concert, It was of course, April Wine during thier Stand Back tour.
