What do you do when you can't find a theatre company with the resources you need to produce a show?

You form one yourself.

A group of students from MUN’s Diploma of Performance and Communications Media and Sir Wilfred Grenfell College who say they couldn't find producers for their theatre shows have gotten together to form GraveYardShift Productions.

It will present its latest play, “Boyfriends,” at the Rabbittown Theatre this week.

Set in 1950s New York, the play, written by Alexander Carson and Nicholas Martin tells the story of three friends, each of them vying for the heart of Shirley, an escort.

“Boyfriends” debuted last year at the Toronto Fringe Festival.

GraveYardShift Productions version of the play, directed by Ciaran Dyke and starring Darren Ivany, David Feehan, Dylan Brenton and Sarah Browne, will run Aug. 1-4 at 8 p.m., with a pay-what-you-can matinee at 2 p.m. Aug. 4. Tickets are available by calling 753-4531 or online at www.rca.nf.ca.

Actually this is our third play! We performed "The Apple & The Tree" by Mark White in the Spring of 2011, and "Say Nothing, Saw Wood" by Joel Hynes back in April of this year.
