I was in Cape Breton attending the Cabot Trail Writer's Festival this weekend. On Sunday Leon Dubinsky played. He's the man who wrote "We Rise Again". Leon and his wife played it as the final song in their set after annoucing that Raylene Rankin had passed away. The entire crowd sang along, many with tears streaming down their faces. Truly this was a special woman.

The family has lost a valuable individual, Nova Scotia has lost an important person to their cultural and musical community. Canada has lost an important member of this famous family musical group and as an individual, what a terrible lost.
