• This September, the Arthritis Society volunteers will go door to door throughout the province, participating in the annual Community Campaign to collect donations. These donations will support The Arthritis Society in helping people living with arthritis in Newfoundland and Labrador. • QVE, the Quintessential Vocal Ensemble, is looking for prospective singers to join our international award-winning group in September. Conducted by Susan Quinn, we are an amateur adult choir that sings in concerts throughout the year, performances with other artists and at special events, competitions and festivals, and tours around Newfoundland and overseas. • The Alzheimer Society is looking for delivery drivers to deliver kits for its upcoming Coffee Break event. If you have any free time and would like to help out the Society, call Wanda at 576-0608.

• During the Fall, St. John’s Safer Soil will conduct free garden tours at the demonstration garden behind the Gathering Place, situated at the north side of the Basilica Parking Lot. Learn about safe city gardening, how to test soil for lead, landscaping and other tips to prevent lead exposure, using plants to clean the soil, and more. • The Arthritis Society is gearing up for another door-to-door campaign in Newfoundland and Labrador during September — Arthritis Awareness Month. • The Buy A Bear Foundation is looking for donations of stuffed animals to support the Janeway Foundation and Childrens Miracle Network. To donate, bears can be dropped off at the Janeway Foundation office in the Health Sciences Centre or at 10 Cumberland Cres.
