For the Love of Learning, Inc. will hold two performances of a traditional mummer play. The first show will be held outside the Scotia Centre, downtown St. John's today at 2 p.m. The second performance will be held Friday, Dec. 18. at Gower St. United Church at 7 p.m. Both performances are open to the public and free of charge. The 11th annual Christmas Candlelight Service at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 30 Aldershot St., will be held at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate the birth of Christ, and enjoy a festive treat following the service.

The Young Virtuosi (senior students of the Suzuki Talent Education Program), under the direction of Jennifer Johnson, present an evening of concerto string music by Mendelssohn, Mozart, Bach and Vivaldi 7:30 p.m. at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, 6 St. Clare Ave. Tickets available at the door or call Janet at 753-8434. Cost: $7 for students and seniors, $10 for adults.
Sunday, Dec. 20
The Health Care Foundation invites you to the 21st Tree of Memories Carol Service at 4 p.m., in front of St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, LeMarchant Road. During the service, the Tree of Memories Donor Wall will be officially unveiled. The Salvation Army NewFoundBrass will lead the carol singing and refreshments will be served. In the event of inclement weather, the service will take place in the St. Clare's Mercy Hospital Chapel.

St. Thomas' Anglican Church annual free Christmas Day Outreach Dinner will be held at Canon Wood Hall, St. Thomas' Church, 8 Military Rd. (Not so) Silent Night: A Fundraiser for the Dzogadze Education Development Foundation will take place at The Rock House, George Street, St. John's. The evening will feature a varied lineup of some known and up-and-coming musicians covering a wide variety of styles. The village of Dzogadze is in Ghana (West Africa). Admission is only $10 and many prizes, ranging from gift certificates to an iPod, are up for grabs. Music starts 9 p.m. For more info contact info@curtisandrews.ca.
