The province's Department of Health confirmed the province's second and third cases of the H1N1 virus - also known as swine flu - this morning.
According to a news release, two children under the age of five, from the same family have tested positive for the disease.

It is not yet known where the children are from, but they are from a community under Eastern Health's jurisdiction.
On Saturday, a young man from Grand Falls-Windsor was the first to be confirmed as having H1N1.
He has since recovered after being treated at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre.
"With a case confirmed last weekend, we anticipated that other cases would be identified," said Dr. Faith Stratton, the province's chief medical officer of health in the release.
"As indicated previously, this is an evolving situation and we can expect additional cases as we head into the summer and fall," she said.
The World Health Organization declared the H1N1 virus a pandemic last week meaning that it has spread world wide.
Symptoms of the illness include fever, lethargy, lack of appetite and coughing. Some people also report runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
People should wash their hands regularly, cover coughs and sneezes and stay at home if they think they are sick to avoid the spread of the virus.
People in the province can contact the provincial Healthline at 1-888-709-2929, or go to the Public Health Agency of Canada's website for more information www.phac-aspc.gc.ca

Are we really this stupid? This is just another flu. No different than any other flu other than it transfers from humans to animals and animals to humans. What is the point of running around scared? We can't stop this. Sure we can put on the stupid masks and put hand cleaners in all public places. Then we go to the 7-11 and receive change that has been in 10 different peoples hands in the last week. If a deadly virus comes there is nothing we can about it. Stop living in fear and start living. Stupid corp controlled media has us scared to death over monsters in our closet. WAKE UP!!!!!!!

I am concerned about this because I am one of the high risk of getting complicatins form the flu let alone the swine flu. I get the flu shot each year but that is no good against the swine flu. How can you tell the difference between the regular flu and the swine flu? I get very sick with the normal flu.

OMG - three people in the province have the flu!!!! Alert the RCMP! Pull your kids out of school! Blame Eastern Health! You live on an island; how on earth did the flu get there? Oh, right, You have cars, boats and airplanes and people do occasionally travel to and from the Rock.

2000 people in Ontario have this flu and you know what? The centre of the universe continues to operate just fine, thank you.

Ok, I give up. Under Eastern Healths jurisdiction tell us nothing. At least toss us a bone lady. We have a right to know if we have been exposed. Such a large geographical area can lead to people pulling kids from all schools in the region. Good call.

Hanna What Now? Either way I guess the talk of being in a bubble is right out the window now. And to think they tried to make us think we had nothing to worry about. With Debbie Forward at the helm and her band of half wits, we are about to become extinct.

But then again we have not been told by Danny yet to drink up and take his gospel lesson on how he has it under control like everything else he's lied about.

To those that commented on the cases now being in the schools - the children were under the age of 5 - that means that they are not yet of school age.

Ok...so you can tell us that there are 2 small children diagnosed with the Swine flu but you can't tell us where they are from? What a crock of s*#t. Are these cases mild...are the children hospitalized? What's the deal? If you're going to broadcast to the media that there have been more cases you should at least have the deciency to give the details on the situation!!

Yep, Ken M is right. Influenza kills hundreds of thousands (250,000 to 500,000 according to the BBC) of people world-wide every year. Swine Flu, a strain of influenza, since its discovery this winter/spring has killed....wait for it.....a whopping 220 people (according to Wikipedia), all over the world.

So really, it is no different than any other type of influenza. Except that it can be transfered between humans and certain animals.
