Medavie Blue Cross has reached a tentative agreement with Shoppers Drug Mart stores in Atlantic Canada.
The deal, if approved, will allow all Medavie plan members to continue to have their cards honoured by all Shoppers Drug Mart stores in Atlantic Canada.
The contract between the two groups expired a few months ago with the sticking point being how much Blue Cross was willing to pay pharmacies to help cover the cost of prescription drugs.
Talks resumed yesterday and the tentative agreement was reached during those discussions.
The deal will now be finalized and presented to Shoppers Drug Mart associate-owners for ratification.
