Bentley just recently released images of its new Continental GT Speed Convertible ahead of next week's North American International Auto Show in Detroit, a car that promises to be even more enticing than the otherworldly outgoing model.

The GT Speed Convertible will likely be identical to the GT Speed Coupe sans roof, and therefore should feature a 616-horsepower quad-turbo W12 with a staggering 590 foot-pounds of torque powering all four wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. Expect acceleration times from zero to 100 km/h of about four seconds with a top-speed of approximately 325 km/h; the coupe is good for 330 km/h.

The Continental GT Speed coupe, which starts at $220,000 USD (Canadian pricing isn't available yet), features a lowered adaptive suspension system, updated chassis settings, and revised Electronic Stability Program calibrations for handling that belies its mammoth 2,320-kilo curb weight.

Inside, the current 2013 coupe includes an Audi-sourced telematics system with new point of interest (POI) mapping, optional satellite landscape imagery, live traffic data and HD radio, all displayed on an infotainment touchscreen that fronts a 30GB hard drive, 15GB of which is storage space for music. The latter can be heard via a "Naim for Bentley" audio system boasting 1,100 watts and all the modern amenities such as Bluetooth audio streaming, USB and iPod connectivity, SD card uploads, and for the old guys there's even a six-disc CD changer. On the safety front, the new Bentley will even provide real-time tire pressure monitoring.

Of course all the usual Bentley luxuries will be included too. The new GT Speed coupe features burr walnut or  "engine spun" dark tint aluminum dash options as well as available satin finish carbon fibre, along with the best quality leathers, real metals and rich wool carpeting.

We'll know more about the new Continental GT Speed Convertible after it debuts in Detroit next week.
