If you love the new Camaro's exterior design but are turned off by its interior, you're in luck. Chevy's four-seat sports coupe will reportedly get an all-new interior for 2012 with softer-touch plastics and better quality detailing.

According to reports, the motivation behind the improvements is Ford's new 2011 Mustang and its vastly upgraded cabin.

Additionally, a reincarnated Z28 is expected to join the fray with a version of GM's supercharged 6.2-litre LSA V8 currently under the hood of Cadillac's CTS-V, good for about 550 horsepower. Likewise the Z28 will do battle against Ford's Mustang Shelby GT500.

For now, at least, Chevy's Camaro is selling well for good reason. And the upgrades will come just when they're needed. When the early adaptors have stopped buying and more mainstream consumers will come onboard looking for more substance than mere styling and performance, both which are delivered in spades with the new bowtie coupe.
