Mopar is Chrysler Group's performance tuning and accessories division. Named as an acronym of Motor Parts, Mopar recently modified Chrysler's 2012 200 sedan with a series of exterior upgrades. The resulting Chrysler 200 Super S sedan will make its debut at the North American International Auto Show on January 10.

"The Super S is Mopar's interpretation of the Chrysler 200," said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group's service, parts and customer-care brand. "The extensive list of high-quality Mopar parts enhances the performance and appearance of our Chrysler 200."

Mopar's interpretation as expressed by Gorlier comes in two stages: Stage One includes a large front spoiler, mesh grilles, satin chrome grille trim, satin chrome fog light trim, satin chrome belt molding and new side sills. There are also 18-inch "S" alloy wheels finished in gray or hyper black as well as black chrome "200" badges. At the back, Stage One adds a new trunk lid spoiler, a matte black rear diffuser and more satin chrome trim.

Stage Two of Mopar's modifications include performance accessories to compliment Stage One's aggressive styling enhancements. The performance accessories consist of a revised Mopar coil-over suspension, a cold-air intake and a Mopar cat-back exhaust.

The Mopar-tuned Chrysler 200 Super S is based on the Chrysler 200 sedan which was introduced as a 2011 model. The 200 came as a replacement to the now departed Chrysler Sebring and is available in both sedan and two-door convertible body styles. Available powertrains include a 2.4-litre inline 4-cylinder engine with 173 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque, or a 3.6-litre V6 with 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

Chrysler hasn't yet revealed how much horsepower and torque the 200 Super S makes, however it should provide more power than the standard 200 due to its cold-air intake and Mopar exhaust. More details will likely be divulged when the 200 Super S makes its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 10.
