As a division of Chrysler Group LLC, Dodge vehicles are eligible for various upgrades from Mopar, Chrysler Group's performance and accessories division. The Dodge Charger sedan has recently been modified with Mopar products and will debut its enhancements at this year's North American International Auto Show on January 10.

The 2012 Dodge Charger Redline is the result of Mopar's efforts, and its modifications are available in three distinct stages. Stage One consists of cosmetic modifications including a carbon fibre front spoiler, a carbon fibre rear spoiler, carbon fibre door scoops, a revised front grille and 20-inch Mopar Black Envy wheels.

Stage Two improves the Dodge Charger Redline's performance with specific mechanical upgrades. There's a cat-back performance exhaust system which increases horsepower and provides a more authoritative exhaust note. Also included are a front-tower cross-brace and front tower brace caps which are claimed to increase structural rigidity for improved handling. Additionally, Stage Two features track-tested high-performance brake linings which Mopar says offer improved fade-resistance.

While Stage One and Stage Two already add significant changes to the Dodge Charger, Stage Three is simply outrageous. It adds a 426 cubic-inch (7-litre!) V8 "Elephant Motor" that delivers 220 more horsepower than a 2012 Dodge Charger R/T. In all, the big V8 delivers 590 horsepower and is a high-output version of the Gen III 426 Hemi V8 crate engine which is meant for race and off-road use. Thanks to its aluminum engine block, the Charger Redline's engine weighs over 100 pounds less than the traditional cast-iron version.

"Since the 1960s, the Mopar Brand has built a long history of adding power and performance to the Dodge Charger – and with the Redline, we Moparized the new Charger with modern-day performance and style while giving a nod to our storied past," said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group LLC's service, parts and customer-care brand. "With three kits, Mopar offers a tailored choice for every customer."
