For many, owning a Ferrari is the greatest automotive aspiration. Now, in addition to offering customers the intoxicating sound, power and styling that Ferrari is famous for, the Italian automaker is offering customers the opportunity to completely customize their vehicles as well.

Ferrari's new Tailor-Made program follows a tradition that began in the 1950s and '60s when clients chose between different materials, colours and finishes in order to suit their varying tastes. Now, Tailor-Made allows owners to "specify every last detail" of their cars according to Ferrari. In all, the Tailor-Made program offers three different collections for clients to choose from; they include Scuderia, Classica and Inedita.

The Scuderia collection reflects Ferrari's racing history and presents clients with a range of materials and finishes developed from motorsport. Materials offered through the Scuderia collection include carbon fibre, chamois and rubberized leather, Alcantara, Kevlar and microfibres, with metal trim in satin or matte finishes.

Classica features a modern interpretation of design trends exhibited in Ferrari's iconic grand touring cars. In contrast to the high-performance theme of Scuderia, Classica offers pastel colour schemes with cashmere, velvet, wool, chrome accents and vintage leather. Ferrari's FF grand touring car was used as a platform to display the styling character of Classica. The customized FF features three-layer Ingrid silver paintwork, pinstripe cloth and brown leather seats, grey carpet mats and a cashmere roof lining.

Ferrari's Inedita collection is perhaps the most flamboyant of the three as it features innovative and experimental styling trends to clients. Notable trim choices include denim, "bold leather upholstery" and even suit fabrics. According to Ferrari, such eclectic trim choices and finishes may become classic design traits in the future.

Clients who make use of the Tailor-Made program are invited to Ferrari's home city of Maranello where they can personalize their cars in a special design studio with sample materials and colours to browse through. The Maranello studio is even outfitted with a material scanner that shows clients what their cars will look like once the customization process is complete.

Vintage Ferraris make enthusiasts swoon with their voluptuous proportions and simple yet elegant interiors. While it seems farfetched now, a Ferrari with denim seat trim may one day be a highly sought-after collector car.
