Most people agree that the little Fiat 500 is ultra-cute, but it's not exactly a family car. The solution? Fiat's new 500L: a longer wheelbase version that ups interior space to five full seats plus much more cargo volume while retaining the fun-loving attitude of the smaller car. If the 500L still isn't large enough for you, Fiat is building something even larger dubbed 500L Living.

Call it more living space or a rolling living room, the 500L Living is a large compact along the lines of Chevy's now defunct Orlando, albeit cuter and more upscale in execution. Like the Orlando the 500L Living sports three rows of seats, a feat made possible thanks to a wheelbase stretch of about eight inches. Fold the third row flat and cargo capacity reaches a sizeable 637 litres with seating for five still available.

The question remains whether or not the 500L Living will be offered in North America. Canada's penchant for small family haulers like the Mazda5 would probably make it popular north of the 49th at least, but whether this is enough of a reason for the Italian company to bring it here will remain to be seen.
