Ford's sporty Fiesta ST concept made its official world debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show this past September. In 3-door guise, the bright orange concept intrigued onlookers with its sprightly powertrain and performance appeal. Now, Ford is set to debut a 5-door version of the Fiesta ST Concept at this month's Los Angeles Auto Show, which begins November 18.

"With the Fiesta ST Concept, we are demonstrating that our global performance plan has legs." said Jost Capito, Ford Director of Global Performance Vehicles. "The Fiesta ST Concept shows in the most dramatic way possible that the qualities that define an ST are not limited to one model," continued Capito. "The potential for delivering the ST experience to an even wider audience is laid bare by this exciting new concept."

The 5-door Fiesta ST Concept features the same distinct styling as its 3-door counterpart and is painted bright orange with a full ST body kit. Up front, a trapezoidal grille draws resemblance to that of the larger Ford Focus ST, and at the rear, a diffuser and twin exhausts help to execute the sporty design. Like the 3-door, the 5-door Fiesta ST Concept is hunkered down over 17-inch alloy wheels.

Power for the Ford Fiesta ST Concept comes from a turbocharged, direct injection 4-cylinder 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine with Twin-independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT). The engine generates 180 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque and is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission.

Though it does possess a rather potent powertrain, the Fiesta ST Concept is also claimed to deliver good fuel efficiency and low emissions. In fact, Ford says the Fiesta ST Concept proves that "responsible and attractive fuel economy need not come at the expense of performance."

Ford's introduction of the 5-door Fiesta ST Concept marks the second time that the American automaker has showcased this intriguing sport compact. Now in 3-door and more practical 5-door form, the Fiesta ST Concept is even more likely to one day go into production.
