The Ford F-150 pickup truck is, simply put, one of the most popular vehicles ever made. Introduced back in 1948, the F-150 has been a best-selling vehicle in both Canada and the United States for several years and is now in its 12th generation. Ford has now updated its bestselling truck for the 2013 model year, and introduced the revised F-150 in early June with Future Farmers of America (FFA) members, alumni and educators.

"Like our hardworking customers, Ford is committed to getting the job done right with our industry-leading trucks," said Mark Fields, Ford president of the Americas. "The 2013 F-150 demonstrates our commitment to continuously improving our trucks with new features and capabilities, allowing F-Series owners to be increasingly productive."

For 2013, the Ford F-150 has a restyled front-end with new grille designs, available HID headlights and trailer-tow sideview mirrors that include power telescoping and folding capability.

High specification models of the 2013 F-150 such as the Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum models include Sync with MyFord Touch, a further iteration of the Sync system. This setup is paired to an eight-inch touchscreen and features a media hub with two USB ports, an SD card reader and audio/video input jacks.

Engine choices for 2013 include a pair of V6s and a pair of V8s. The V6 engines include a 3.7-litre Ti-VCT V6 engine with 302 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque or a 3.5-litre Ti-VCT EcoBoost V6 engine that delivers 365 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. The V8 engines include a 5.0-litre with 360 horsepower (no torque figure for this engine was released, but the 2012 version makes 380 pound-feet) and a 6.2-litre with 411 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque. All four engines come mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

"The 2013 Ford F-150 adds more style and technology that sets a benchmark for capability and efficiency in light-duty pickups," said F-150 marketing manager Raj Sarkar. "We continue to focus on the no-compromise solution for our customers, giving them all of the conveniences and technologies they want, with the capability they need and the fuel efficiency to go further."
