GMC's Terrain mid-size crossover sport utility vehicle currently competes with the likes of the Ford Edge and Jeep Liberty. Introduced back in 2009 as a 2010 model, the Terrain will be available in special edition Denali trim for model year 2013.

The 2013 GMC Terrain Denali features a signature chrome grille, satin chrome exterior accenting, and new headlight and taillight designs. Terrain Denalis with the V6 engine also get dual chrome exhaust tips and 19-inch wheels, while models with the standard 4-cylinder engine get a single exhaust and 18-inch wheels.

The 2013 Terrain Denali's standard 2.4-litre inline 4-cylinder engine generates 182 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. A V6 is also available and for 2013 it's a new engine. With 3.6 litres of displacement the new V6 produces 301 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque; significantly more than the 264 horsepower and 222 pound-feet of torque afforded by the outgoing 3.0-litre V6.

While front-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is available for both the 4-cylinder and V6-equipped versions of the Terrain Denali. GMC also equipped the Terrain Denali with dual-flow dampers in the suspension system. These help provide a smoother ride and improved handling by controlling the suspension dampening over a broader range of driving conditions.

In addition to its distinct styling and powertrain, the 2013 GMC Terrain Denali comes equipped with a slew of safety technologies. A forward collision alert and lane departure warning are both standard on the Terrain Denali. The systems use a single-camera crash-avoidance system in order to visually and audibly warn drivers of an imminent collision or if the vehicle moves out of its lane. The Terrain Denali's side blind zone and rear cross traffic alert help drivers to avoid collisions by using radar technology to monitor the driver's blind spots, again providing visible and audible warnings.

Inside, the 2013 GMC Terrain Denali boasts soft-touch Jet Black leather on the seats and door inserts. There are also embossed Denali logos on the front seatbacks, mahogany wood trim accenting, Denali illuminated front sill plates and a leather-wrapped steering wheel which is also adorned with mahogany wood. Other interior features include a colour touch radio with an IntelliLink information and entertainment system. The IntelliLink system allows for intuitive voice commands, a reconfigurable home screen and Bluetooth smartphone integration. Available interior amenities include colour touch navigation and a rear-seat entertainment system.

Pricing and availability of the 2013 Terrain Denali and 2013 Terrains with the new V6 engine will be announced closer to the on-sale date scheduled for the third quarter of 2012.
