Where better to debut an updated flagship luxury sedan than America's ritziest city, New York. To that end Hyundai will introduce a mid-cycle upgrade of its full-size Equus sedan in Manhattan's Jacob Javits Center as part of the New York International Auto Show starting at the end of this month.

According to Hyundai, a minimum of 30 updates will differentiate the 2014 Equus from the current model, the South Korean automaker saying the new version is "significantly enhanced." These will include "exterior and interior design elements," improvements in "interior material quality," enhanced "ride, handling and vehicle control dynamics," new "advanced safety features" and what Hyundai calls "driver technology displays." Are they referring to a personally configurable TFT primary instrument cluster like Jaguar's XJ? Could be.

The photo that joined the extremely short press release is so dark that most details remain hidden, although it's possible to see stylish new 15-spoke turbine blade-style alloy wheels. What we can dimly see of the rest of the car looks similar to today's Equus, so we'll have to reserve judgment until the entire car is unveiled on March 27th or more teaser photos are released before. Stay tuned…
