April was another record-setting month across Canada as well as within each specific region, including Western, Central, Eastern and Atlantic, with 6,777 deliveries resulting in a 34-percent sales increase over the same month last year, and marking the first time Kia has surpassed the 6,000 unit sales threshold in its 11 years in Canada. Kia Canada's sales are now industry-leading with 28 consecutive months of growth.

"It is quite evident that Canadians continue to embrace our world-class design, technology and safety while appreciating the benefit of our fuel efficient vehicle line-up" said Maria Soklis, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Kia Canada Inc. "The result is an all-time record month exceeding 6,000 sales in April for the first time with three vehicle lines contributing with over 1,000 sales each for the first time."

Kia's April sales leader, at 1,745 units sold, was the compact Forte lineup, which includes a four-door sedan, two-door Koup, and a new five-door hatchback. The impressive increase in sales resulted in 35.7-percent growth compared to Forte sales in April of 2010. The all-new 2011 Sorento, now a more city and highway friendly car-based crossover (CUV) instead of the truck-based, ladder-frame setup of the previous Sorento sport utility (SUV), achieved 1,273 sales in April, up 31-percent, while 1,128 of Kia's iconic Soul models went out the showroom door for a 41.7-percent increase over the same period last year.

"The Kia brand is currently in the second year of an aggressive design-led transformation and recent additions including the all-new 2011 Optima mid-size sedan and later in the year with the all-new 2012 Kia Rio subcompact will continue to drive demand with both our customers and conquest brands in 2011." said Robert Staffieri, Director of Marketing Kia Canada Inc. "Award winning vehicles like the Optima and others including IIHS top safety picks and five star crash ratings have proven to be a winning formula along with design for Canadians."
