What do we have here? The next-generation Nissan Murano? The upcoming Rogue replacement? Either could be true. Or maybe the Nissan Resonance concept shown in this dark, mysterious partial profile shot is something altogether different? We won't know for sure until it debuts for real next Tuesday, January 15, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

From Nissan's brief press release that joined the release of the photo, we know the Resonance will feature a gasoline-electric powertrain, but that's it. We can guess that additional state-of-the-art and even breakthrough technologies will be included in the concept's design, while liberal use of LED lighting is obvious as it can be readily seen on the crossover's tall vertical tail lamp clusters.

Teaser images like these were once anomalies, but have now become a common way to gain some excitement ahead of the glitz and glam of the show itself. 2014 Infiniti Q50 teaser
They're as important to build buzz with customers on websites and via Facebook, Twitter and other social media outlets as with journalists attending the event's press days that take place before the show doors open to the public, the automaker wanting to make sure they attract the top journalists, photographers and videographers to their press conference instead of losing them to a reveal from some other brand.

Making sure all eyes will be focused on Nissan's premium brand, Infiniti, the luxury division sent out an invitation to attend the introduction of the all-new Q50 sport sedan, the replacement for the current G25 and G37 sedans. The Q50 is the first of an entire global rebranding process for Infiniti, in which all models will be renamed. Cars, like the Q50, will get the Q designation along with a numeric moniker to depict its place in on the brand's luxury pecking order, while crossovers and SUVs will be dubbed QX. Making sure to lure all available press to the Q50 unveiling, Infiniti promises a special performance by the famed Quebec troupe Cirque de Soleil. You'll be able to watch it live too via the brand's Facebook page or on its U.S. retail site at 9:45 am EST, Monday, January 14, with an interactive Facebook chat to follow.
