Toyota's next-generation Corolla is one of the most highly anticipated new model launches in the industry, so any news about what it looks like is big news indeed.

Toyota got us excited when it introduced the Furia Concept at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit last January, as anything close to this prototype's design in production trim would be a massive leap forward in style points. Toyota needs to be careful, however, as anything less might be cause for disappointment. Of course, no one expects big wheels and racy aerodynamic add-ons in a base Corolla, but hopes are high that Toyota doffs its conservative clothes for something with a little more pizazz.

So far we only have a single teaser image of a closely cropped right rear taillight, a "Corolla S" badge and surrounding bodywork to go by. At least "S" is the nameplate's "sport" model, so this would be the trim level to look closest to the performance-oriented concept. The good news is that the tightly cropped taillight, bumper design and rear spoiler looks a great deal like the Furia's rear lens (sans LEDs) and bodywork, so feel free to keep hopes high for an overall design that pulls major cues from the popular concept.

Fortunately we don't have long to wait until the entire car is officially revealed. Toyota has promised to pull the wraps off the 2014 Corolla on June 6, so stay tuned. And if another image or additional info surfaces ahead of the car's official unveiling, we'll be sure to make it priority news.
