Volvo's popular XC90 is a seven-seater luxury crossover sport utility vehicle first introduced in 2003. Currently, the segment in which the XC90 competes is dominated with offerings from Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, Acura, Lexus and more. In a bid to keep its XC90 even more appealing, Volvo has updated the mid-size crossover for the 2013 model year.

The 2013 Volvo XC90 features new body-coloured front and rear bumpers, sill mouldings and wheel arches. There are also new standard LED daytime running lights and taillights as well as a silver-coloured bumper bar, chrome trim and new 18-inch alloy wheels for XC90 3.2 models.

XC90 R-Design models feature new 19-inch alloy wheels, an R-Design grille and a sport-tuned suspension and steering system. Inside, the R-Design XC90 has embossed "R-Design" logos on the front seats as well as an R-Design steering wheel.

Power for the 2013 XC90 comes from a 3.2-litre inline six-cylinder engine that produces 240 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes mated to a six-speed transmission, with standard front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. Volvo's Haldex all-wheel-drive system with Instant Traction applies up to 50 percent more torque to the rear axle in certain situations, such as when accelerating from a stop.

Included among the list of interior amenities for all 2013 XC90s is an audio streaming connection for standard Bluetooth-compatible cell phones. Also available for 2013 is a Volvo Premium Sound System with Dolby Pro Logic II Surround Sound. This 12-speaker, 650-watt audio system is available in XC90s with the Platinum trim package. The Platinum XC90 also features a navigation system with real-time traffic and a rearview camera.

Safety technologies include roll stability control, dynamic stability and traction control, and a side impact protection system with side airbags and inflatable curtains for all three rows.

Volvo's 2013 XC90 comes to market to compete with other luxury crossovers such as BMW's X5, Audi's Q7 and Acura's MDX among many others.
