It's unbelievable that some wicked news almost got by me.
I've been up to my bald spot in minicipal election coverage and haven't had a chance consume much news or do some regular googling.
But a few minutes ago, I searched for KISS and learned the band has been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
Anyone who read this knows why I think this is a big deal.
KISS deserves the nomination and an induction.
Their influence on rock is gigantic their over-the-top concerts set the benchmark for entertainment.
That said, a promoter should try to get the band to play an outdoor concert here next summer.
It shouldn't be that hard Gene Simmons knows all about Newfoundland because of his missus.
But then, aside from the Salmon Festival organizers, no one seems to have the guts to try outdoor shows in this neck of the woods anymore.
That's sad. Halifax and Moncton are booming with big name acts and, based on the success of the recent Elton John and Neil Young concerts at Mile One, people here are willing to pay to see top acts.
