Nowadays, you never know who youre going to run in to. And Catherine Hutchens can attest to that. On a school trip to Quebec City last week, Hutchens a member of the Booth high school girls hockey squad and her classmates learned the Russian national hockey squad were staying in the same hotel. While on a routine lobby scouting mission Hutchens and company found themselves in the company of the very Russian they were desperate to get a glimpse off; Hart trophy nominee, and arguably the most exciting player in the NHL, Alexander Ovechkin. Hutchens says the Capitals star indentified for their non-sports savvy classmates as having short black hair, chipped tooth was very gracious and took time to pose for photos and sign autographs. Hutchens also met Sergei Federov and some lesser known Russian league players with whom she was able to overcome the language barrier with hockey talk. Ahh, the international language of the puck. Now more commonly spoken than English, Russian and Pig Latin combined.
