If you missed it, we did a feature piece on St. Johns born professional cyclist Zack Garland over the weekend. In interviewing Garland, he mentioned he was in negotiations to join a new team for the upcoming season. With nothing confirmed, we couldnt say much at the time. But I got word back from Garland recently that the team is actually going to be a merger of his current team, Kona-Adobe with whom hes raced for two seasons, and team HR Block, with whom he guest rode for this years Tour de Quebec. The teams official name is still being worked out but Garland says the goal is to be the strongest team is Western Canada and by the looks of things Garland will be one of the team leaders for sure. * * * * Last weekend Garland got a true taste of cyclo-cross in British Columbia is all about; placing fifth in a muddy, wet and challenging B.C. Cup cross race.
