Rudofsky will be Here & Now's new weather person
Krysta Rudofsky (right, CBC photo) will be the new weather person on CBC Here & Now. This news was made official through an internal memo circulated this morning at the CBC.
Krysta will replace Karl Wells, who is retiring later this month.
I think this is a good choice for CBC, as Krysta has proven herself a resourceful, energetic and versatile on-camera person, able to jump from hard news to soft lifestyle features to the anchor seat without batting an eye. Krysta seems to enjoy being in front of the camera, and the camera likes her even more.
I also admire her energy, best demonstrated by the fact that she was able to host and co-produce 30 minutes of Living NL every day for an entire season. Anyone who has worked in television will tell you that this is not easy. (Krysta will continue to host Living NL on a part-time basis when it resumes in the fall.)
Krysta is a talented and hard worker and has definitely earned this appointment. I wish her well.
Following is the email announcement from Diane Humber, Regional Director for CBC Newfoundland:
I am delighted to announce that Krysta Rudofsky is our new weather reporter for Here and Now.
Since joining CBC less than a year ago Krysta has hosted Living NL, filled in as anchor of Here and Now, worked as a reporter for the program, given her voice to Canada Live on Radio Two, hosted our special Soccer Day in Canada regional program, and represented the CBC at many community events.
Before joining the CBC Krysta was host and senior producer of the very popular program Out of the Fog on Roger's Cable.
Krysta has a Bachelor of Arts (Double Major in History, Canadian Studies) from MUN. She's received many awards such as the Memorial Alumni's Horizon Award for Lifetime Achievement; Media Person of the Year 2001 from the Music Industry Association of Newfoundland; Young Woman of Distinction from the YMCA-YWCA; and an Impression Award (Best Talk Show) 2001, Rogers Television.
In addition to her new responsibilities as weather reporter for Here and Now, Krysta will continue as part time host of Living NL when the show is in production.
Please join me in congratulating Krysta on her new role. She will join the Here and Now team as weather reporter in early September.
