[Professional Blog] Mary Power Profiled

There is another in-depth profile coming of the one-and-only Mary Power, a resident of Branch who passed away in 2006.

Power was also the subject of a Mary Power, A Life in Stories, a documentary film by the late Michelle Jackson.

This latest production is a radio documentary by Heather Barrett of CBC Radio.

"I did see Michelle's doc prior to starting work on mine," Barrett said. "And I think we have two different, yet complementary takes, on Mary Power."

The documentary will air as part of The Late Show series. It is narrated by Gordon Pinsent and produced/created by Mary Lynk at CBC Radio in Halifax.

"I researched, collected tape, conducted the interviews, and wrote the script," Barrett said. "Mary edited and mixed my piece, and worked with Gordon on the script read Delf Hohmann was a great help to both myself and Michelle Jackson in providing additional tape and music, and advising me on who to talk to and where to go in Branch."

The documentary airs Tuesday, July 8 at 10 am (9:30 in rest of Canada) on CBC Radio One, and again on Sunday, July 13, at 11:30 am (11 am in rest of Canada).
