CBC's Short Film Faceoff kicks off its fourth year
More good news for young and/or emerging filmmakers! Check out the below Call for Submissions from CBC Television:
CBC TV is pleased to announce a new program featuring short films from across Canada. Short Film Faceoff has already enjoyed three successful seasons in the Maritimes and is going to be broadcast across the country this summer. The show is produced in partnership with the Atlantic Film Festival and has brought a new mainstream audience for short films and increased profile for their filmmakers.
Films are screened and a panel of industry professionals will provide commentary as well as discuss the creative and technical aspects of the films with the filmmakers.
The series also has a competitive component - the studio audience will vote to choose three finalists and the viewing audience will vote for the top film. The CBC and sponsors will be offering a prize made up of cash and production services to be used by the winning filmmaker towards his or her next film.
Films must be under 12 minutes, have been completed in the past two years, and must not have been broadcast on television. They are seeking comedies and dramas, and music videos and documentaries are not suitable. Directors must be available for tapings at CBC Halifax from May 17 - 19. Program producers will pay all travel and accommodation costs for the program.
