Jonathan Galgay is 31 years old, and the son of Frances and the late Gus Galgay (The Barber) of Hamilton Avenue, St. John’s. Jonathan has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Memorial University of Newfoundland and has a strong background in areas ranging from leadership to public policy and evaluation. Jonathan has previously served as Executive Assistant to former Ministers of Health and Justice, and has served as a Legislative Advisor in the House of Commons, Ottawa.
Jonathan was most recently employed with the Provincial Department of Justice and worked as a Senior Analyst in the Public Safety and Enforcement Division; providing corporate support and advice on issues pertaining to policing, policy, standards and service delivery. He served on a number of working groups responsible for legislative reviews, aboriginal policing, crime prevention, and provided direction to stakeholders and the general public on matters pertaining to provincial justice.
Jonathan has served as a board member with the Signal Hill Tattoo Advisory Committee, and is currently the Chair of the St. John’s Roman Catholic Cemeteries Committee. Jonathan and his wife Taracetta reside in St. John’s.
