Singer George Jones coming to Mile One Centre

Country music legend George Jones will hold a concert April 21, 2008, at Mile One Centre in St. John's as part of his Encore Canadian Tour 2008.
Tickets are $52.50 plus surcharge and go on sale Friday at noon. Tickets can be purchased at the Mile One Box Office, by phoning 576-7657 (toll free at 1-800-361-4595) or online at www.mileonecentre.com.
Jones first hit the charts in the 1950s. In April 1999, he celebrated the 40th anniversary of his first Number 1 record, the rockabilly flavoured "White Lightening." Through the decades, Jones has transcended country music trends. Whether the times have favored honky-tonk songs or lushly produced and orchestrated "pop" offerings, George Jones has continued to make his own brand of country music, which had produced hits in the last six decades.
