Harbour Breton - Cooke Aquaculture has an agreement with the Barry Group of Companies to lease the Harbour Breton plant in 2009.

"We have a lease arrangement for 2009 and we have also met with union officials to work out the details of a new contract for 2009," said Nell Halse, director of communications with Cooke Aquaculture.

"While a new contract has not been finalized, we are working on this aspect of our operation in Harbour Breton."

Halse said Cooke Aquaculture also hopes to get a hatchery up and running next year.

"We have been looking at different locations, but we have not chosen a definite site for the hatchery," she said.

There's been extra work at the Harbour Breton plant in recent weeks.

"In addition to processing our own fish, we are also processing salmon from other companies in the area on a contract basis," said Halse. "We have also transferred our trout production to the facility. That has added about four million pounds of fish for production there."
