The Quebec-based chain said the 100-year-old business will be integrated into its current network of eight stores belonging to the Chester Dawe banner in Newfoundland and Labrador.
"Bishop's is an excellent addition to our network of Chester Dawe stores," said executive vice-president Pierre Dandoy.
"We're very happy to welcome Bishop's Building Center employees to Rona. This transaction meets our rigorous standards for acquisitions and will contribute toward improving our results in the region from day one."
The acquisition brings the total number of Rona affiliate dealer-owners to 26 stores in the Atlantic provinces.

Rona store in South River and another in Bay Roberts (approx 10 minutes away) doesnt seem to me that both will last and one will be closed in the near future. I had purchased much materials from Bishops Bldg Centre as the price was marginal compared to others in the area. No competition ... no deal

There is a need for a big hardware store in the area, like Canadian Tire or Home Depo.

    Randall, we'd settle for a Wal-Mart!
