Safety issue forces plane to return to St. John's

About 20 minutes after leaving St. John's en route to Montreal Friday night, an E-175 aircraft carrying 70 passengers returned to St. John's International Airport.
Bob Nurse, director of security and emergency response at the airport, said Air Canada Flight 631 returned to St. John's for a precautionary measure when the pilot's attempt to get the plane's landing gear up failed.
The St. John's Regional Fire Department responded by sending trucks from two stations.
The plane landed safely and no passengers were hurt.
