Marshall back to finance, Felix Collins promoted to cabinet as justice minister

Jerome Kennedy is the province's new minister of Health and Community Services, Premier Danny Williams announced today.
Kennedy was sworn in this afternoon at Government House in St. John's along with two other ministers.
Tom Marshall has been appointed Minister of Finance, President of Treasury Board, Minister Responsible for the Public Service Secretariat, and Minister Responsible for the Office of the Chief Information Officer.
Felix Collins, a new face to the cabinet table, was appointed Minister of Justice and Attorney General.
"I am pleased to announce today the addition of Felix Collins to our cabinet, as well as new portfolios for some of our current ministers," Williams said. "I want to thank both ministers Kennedy and Marshall for their outstanding work in their previous departments and I look forward to their continued contributions individually as ministers and collectively around the cabinet table."
Williams also announced that Dianne Whelan, Minister of Municipal Affairs, will serve as acting Minister of Transportation and Works effective immediately.
The swearing-in ceremony followed a surprise announcement this morning by Paul Oram who said he was leaving politics.
Oram, who had been the minister of health, said he is leaving politics due to health reasons and the intense media scrutiny he and his family faced.
"I thank Paul Oram for his tireless contribution to the public service and wish him the best in all his future endeavours," Williams said.
More details in Thursday's print edition.

Well, with these few ministers doing multiple jobs at least they won't have any briefing notes to read. Good thing Danny won't let anyone right anything down any more. Where would they find the time, and they would wear out their fingertips following the words on the page. But luckily they don't have any heavy lifting to do.

I can hear it now: BZZZZZZZ, Minister? The Premier would like you to come to the 8th floor right away, he has some decisions he'd like you to agree with.

    What a joke.
    Same sorry faces to keep
filling holes in the colony of fools.

I voted for Danny but let me assure you after his treatment of pensioners and seniors in general and absolute total disregard for our outports he will never see it again.

I hope he move on soon ,himself, maybe to Bally Haley golf course.

As to the new Justice minister the man fits the job to a tee as I have a feeling he is a smooth talker, fast walker with absolutely no knowlegge of the law.I see
him as a judge a few years from now.

How much are we on the hook to Taylor and Oram for in terms of severance, vacation and pension payouts???

Not much of a talent pool for Danny Williams to draw upon.

The best Health Minister we had was Elizabeth Marshall and Williams messed up that relationship.

what will Jerome cut out of health care now that X-ray and diagnostics are already reduced in our province?

    Rehab Services might be next?

Yep...that's right...there is still trouble in the Health portfolio so let's bring in Danny's favorite pit bull.

Based on his previous stint with this portfolio, we should not expect his handling of the portfolio to have a calming effect.

Good news for former Minister Oram, Minister Kennedy won't require briefing notes either, he simply makes it up as he goes and shouts down anyone who tries to muddy the waters with facts.

Good luck to all, and godspeed to Paul Oram, unfortunately, not everyone in health care is as financially secure as Oram or they would all be getting out at the thought of Minister Kennedy returning to the helm.
