Proposal submitted for gravel/sand quarry near Holyrood

Pennecon Ltd. has registered a proposed gravel/sand quarry to be constructed near Holyrood for environmental assessment and approval under the Environmental Protection Act.
According to a news release, the proposal is for two gravel/sand quarry sites totalling eight hectares, located approximately 2.5 kilometres from the Town of Holyrood.
Site access will be via an existing series access road (approximately two kilometres off the Holyrood Access Road). Sand and gravel materials will be used in a concrete batching plant, located at the Trans Canada Highway/Manuals Access Road interchange.
Access road upgrades and pit operations are scheduled to commence subject to approval.
The undertaking was registered on Jan. 8 with public comments due by Feb. 17, a the minister's decision is due by Feb. 21.
