Canadians in general are more supportive of the 2010 Winter Games than residents in the host province.
A new Canadian Press Harris-Decima poll shows three in four Canadians believe the Olympics will have more benefits than drawbacks for the country.
But in British Columbia, opinion is evenly divided, with only 52 per cent of those surveyed saying they saw more benefits.
When the three-per cent margin of error is factored in, it means there's as much optimism as pessimism about the benefits of the international extravaganza getting underway Feb. 12.
Compared to when Harris-Decima asked the same questions in October, the number of people surveyed who think the Games will be beneficial is rising, but only slightly.
That's the case even in B.C.
Warm feelings for the Games were strongest in Quebec and Alberta where over 80 per cent of respondents said they thought the Olympics would bring more benefits than drawbacks.

bc. has to pay 5.8 billion for these games ,the people were lied to and the debt will be on the backs of taxpayersfor centures .they also have the lowest wages in canada,the highest prov. debt in canada, the highest child poverty in canada, the highest unemployment in canada with over 90 thousand in the forestry industry who lost their jobs this past year, 700 hospital surgeries post poned because of no money, 800 hundred teachers with new laY OFF SLIPSHIGHEST PROPERTY TAX IN CANADA..AND TO TOP IT OFF ..NO SNOW ..IT RAINS VERY BLOODY DAY..SO ASK YOUSELF WOULD YOU BE HAPPY ... YA RIGHT

The rest of Canada are not having their schools and hospitals cut back to help pay for the games.Rural B.C. is paying a large price for the rich to enjoy and profit from this business of the Olympics.
