Blizzard conditions expected on Friday for much of the province

Gas up the snowblowers and do some stretching exercises tonight because residents of the province may have to push the machines out of the shed and break out the shovels on Friday.
Much of the province is expected to be hit with some snow Friday - up to 35 centimetres over the Avalon Peninsula to near 25 centimetres along the northeast coast.
According to Environment Canada, lesser amounts are expected over the remainder of the island.
As well, strong northerly winds gusting up to 90 km/h are forecast for eastern Newfoundland and combined with the fresh snow will give blowing snow and blizzard conditions on Friday and Friday night.
