Halifax -

The Canadian navy ship HMCS Halifax returns to its namesake port today after a six-week deployment to Haiti.
The frigate was sent to Haiti after the devastating earthquake in January that resulted in the deaths of about 200,000 people.
The primary task of the 225 crew members aboard the Halifax involved humanitarian relief to the residents of Jacmel.
The military sent two of its Halifax-based ships to Haiti - the Halifax and the destroyer HMCS Athabaskan.
Family and friends of the crew of the Halifax will be waiting at the navy dockyard today, along with members of a military band.
