The Newfoundland Labrador Liquor Corporation (NLC) announced this morning it's entered into a five-year contract to produce Lemon Hart Rum.
The contract with Mosaiq, a marketer of alcohol brands that include wine, imported beer, ready-to-drink and spirits..
This is the second major five-year contract secured by the NLC within a week. Last week the NLC entered into a five-year contract to produce Crystal Head Vodka.
"We are very pleased to add another bottling contract to our portfolio of products produced in Newfoundland and Labrador," said Steve Winter, NLC president and CEO.
"We have made investments in our bottling plant to ensure that we are in a position to secure more bottling contracts and increase our production capabilities."
Lemon Hart Rum was established in the early 1800s in London, England.
Mosaiq's executive vice-president said is a historically significant brand.
"Over the centuries, the brand's commitment to craftsmanship has been nurtured through the dedication and integrity of the many individuals entrusted with this tradition," said Michael Szczepaniuk.
"We are excited that the team at the NLC is now part of this time-honoured tradition of craftsmanship and dedication to quality and excellence."

I hope the NLC does not put Screech in the back row to make room for there new brands they have to bottle. It is a good new story that more jobs will stay at the NLC because of their new bottling contracts. I think the bureaucrats at the NLC should also thank their dedicated staff for well job done and with out them they would not have the contracts.

I see, the NLC is trying to reign in more people. Kinda funny when the NLC actually gives out samples of liquor at it's stores and then people get into their cars to drive home. The government of newfoundland is a drug dealer, yes alcohol is a drug, if you do not beleive me look it up on the internet.

Yes, alcohol is a drug. Alcohol can affect every organ in the human body - brain, liver, stomach and heart to name a few! In teenagers and adults as well, behavior that occurs under the influence of alcohol can also lead to serious threats to life and health. Although alcohol is not a prescription drug or an illegal substance (for adults), it carries all the risks of addiction and illness that street drugs do .

Life is a drug Dougie Boy and it's all dangerous, I suggest that you bar yourself up in a oxygen tent if you can't handle it. OR you could just get over yourself. That would be easier and you can enjoy life instead of complaining over.

Dough i agree with you one hundred percent NLC is a legalized drug dealer. The only difference between NLC and my pot dealer is that my pot dealer doesnt sell anything that will kill you. He also doesnt charge me 2.5 times more for what they pay in America.

Now if NLC could get into the Cannabis industry they would be raking it in.

Snip I think an oxygen tent would be dangerous, don't have to get over anything, thousands of people die and are affected due to drunk driving every year.

Bayman I couldn't care less if they shut down the plants, didn't you read my comments?, they were not exactly pro alcohol. So what are the great benefits of alcohol?, anyone?...

I am pretty sure that alcohol is both good and bad. But it goes back in history just far as we as a people do. This is not the place to rant about the negative affects of alcohol. Yes there are some people that abuse things. But look at everything that is bad or concieved as bad in our society: smoking, sugar, fast food, etc etc etc...the list goes on. But moderation is the key and the NLC runs a good ad campaign towards this.

I enjoy a few drinks on the weekends. I do it responsibliy and get taxi's or walk home. there are a few bad apples that make it a negative thing. The NLC is trying to deliver more brands and more variety. something that this backwards province needs! It also makes jobs.

Yes alcohol is mostly bad, a few bad apples?, there are 40,000 drunk driving incidents Canada wide a year, a few?...

I guess alcohol does create jobs, like the funeral homes, police, crime etc.

Doug, you sound like a person who complains about good and bad. How much would you complain if NLC said they had to shut down the plant because of lack of clients?
