The St. John's native who has headed Canada Post since May 2005 is in talks to become the next chief executive of the Royal Mail, reports from Britain say.
They say Moya Greene, 56, has emerged as the front runner for the job.
Greene has been recognized by the Women's Executive Network and the Ivy School of Business as one of Canada's top 40 female corporate executives, and by the National Post as one of Canada's Top 100 influential women.
She has been a senior executive of three of Canada's largest multinational companies - TD Securities Inc., Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Bombardier Inc., and holds degrees from Osgoode Hall Law School and Memorial University of Newfoundland.
The Royal Mail has been searching for a new head since Adam Crozier left to become chief executive of ITV.
Greene would be the first female chief of the government-run postal operator if her appointment is confirmed.
The Financial Times says an appointment could come within days.
The Royal Mail has declined comment.
