The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has recovered military munitions from the area of Red Cliff Road in Logy Bay.
About 3:30 p.m. Friday, a member of the general public alerted the RNC to a suspicious item in the area of Red Cliff Road.
The RNC Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) attended the scene and identified the item as military munitions. After consultation with military officials, the item was identified as a military training bomb that was used by Commonwealth countries between the 1940s and the 1970s.
The item was determined not to be an immediate threat to the general public.
The EDU safely removed and disposed of the item, which measured approximately eighteen inches in length and weighed 11.5 pounds.
The Explosive Disposal Unit has advised that proper protocol was followed in this instance.
The RNC would like advise members of the public to notify authorities immediately and make no attempt to disturb any suspicious found property.
