Emergency crews were called to a small roof fire in St. John's Friday afternoon.
Police and firefighters responded to Country Ribbon on East White Hills Road around 4 p.m. where they were told a contractor had already put out the fire with a fire extinguisher.
An employee notified the contactor of smoke in the building and they tore back the area they were working on to discover the fire.
A small portion of the roof was damaged when contractors working with torches realized that fire had gotten into a wooden part of the roof.
No one was injured in the incident.

Plumbing contractors work with torches everyday; it is the job. Amateurs are people who comment on things they know nothing about.

Amateurs are contractors who light structures up in flames and then go online and tell people they don't understand fire safety.

Here's a tip. Just because you are able to drive to the hardware store and buy a toolbelt doesn't make you an expert contractor.

And how would you apply a torch on roof without the torch maureen?
