Feds appoint two to CNLOPB

Ottawa has appointed two members to the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (CNLOPB).

David M. Wells and Conrad Sullivan are the two federal appointees.

Natural Resources Minister Christian Paradis made the announcement earlier this week.

"The CNLOPB is a strong, independent regulator of Newfoundland and Labrador's offshore resources," Paradis said in a statement. "Mr. Wells and Mr. Sullivan will be great assets in the regulation of our offshore activities."

Ottawa has appointed two members to the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (CNLOPB).

David M. Wells and Conrad Sullivan are the two federal appointees.

According to a news release, Wells has more than 25 years of experience in business development and project management. Sullivan has more than 25 years of leadership experience in the fishing industry.

The CNLOPB is a joint agency of the federal and Newfoundland and Labrador governments.

It is responsible for the regulation of petroleum activities in the Newfoundland and Labrador offshore area.

The board's responsibilities include health and safety of offshore workers, protection of the environment, and management and conservation of offshore petroleum resources.

    Independent? I think not, some oilfield owners can select whomthey wish to serve on the board.

    NFLD is an oilfield owner and selcts certain or some candidates for the board, hardly independent

    If the current government appointed them probably not good for Newfoundland Harper is a very poor loser and will do any thing to screw us
