A body discovered by a lobster fisherman in the Dead Man's Bay area just outside St. John's harbour this morning has been recovered and taken to the Health Sciences Centre in the city for further examination by the province's chief medical examiner.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says the fisherman reported seeing the body on the shore area in the Dead Man's Bay about 7:15 a.m.
The body was transported by rescue craft to the harbour's small boat basin where it was placed in a police vehicle for transportation. Also loaded into police vehicles were what appeared to be bags of debris from the scene.
The investigation into the cause of death is continuing.
