About 120 city workers in Mount Pearl will hold a strike vote later this month after failing to reach a new contract in conciliation talks, the workers' union said today.
Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) national representative Dawn Learning said all attempts to reach a settlement with the city to date have failed.
"The only outstanding issue is wages but the latest offer from the employer is not an acceptable one," Learning said. "While we are close on the wage issue, we are still not there yet."
The union could be in a legal strike position within 15 days.
