Colemans received a prestigious award Tuesday for best large surface retail supermarket in Canada.
The award was presented at the 50th annual Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers’ (CFIG) national awards event in Toronto.
According to a news release, Colemans beat out numerous large-scale stores across the country, being recognized for its newest location in Corner Brook and the company’s continued success at a national level. It’s the first time in the 50-year history of the awards that an Atlantic Canadian grocer received the honour.
“We are quite proud to receive this award from CFIG," said Frank Coleman, President, Coleman Group of Companies.
“Our business environment is a competitive one and we work hard to execute on a level that is appreciated by our customers. It is nice for our superlative staff to be recognized amongst our peers at a national level for that commitment to giving our customers the best possible grocery shopping experience.”
Each year the CFIG Awards Program recognizes the success of outstanding independent retailers and offers insights into innovations that are changing and enhancing the way retailers compete.
“For the past 50 years, CFIG has been showcasing Canada’s top independent grocers whose innovation, leadership and commitment to excellence bring them long-term success in the Canadian grocery landscape,” says John F.T. Scott, President of CFIG. “Colemans is a great example of this as they are a vibrant part of the Newfoundland economy, where they not only thrive but lead the way in retail innovation.”
