Yet another reason why government is evil. Expropriation is a most senseless, expensive and immoral act of piracy. The only reason it isn't a crime is because the people who do it are the same ones who make the laws...how convenient!

Looks good on Fortis. The only company I know of thats guaranteed a profit. I believe they have the same in NL.

That is a very uninformed comment. Fortis is acytually not "guaranteed" a profit, and there are many others that are actually closer to such a rsk-free situation. Unless you've never heard of the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation, your post is a lie.

Now that Fortis can turn it's attention from Belize, it would be advisable to speak to the directors & management of Newfoundland Power of the shoddy treatment of the retirees/spouses of it's foundling company who haven't had any significant increase in pension income in recent years.

Gordon: Really? Because Fortis is now in a relatively LESS stable financial situation than it was before exproriation of these assets, it should seize on this exact circumstance to launch a review of it's pension, with an eye to arbitrarily making payouts more generous than stipulated in its corporate obligations? You know, sometimes you can really get some mindblowing insights to the differences between basic business concepts and how Newfoundlanders see the world. In one respect, it's pure gibberish.....but in another, it expains everything.
