Currently staying in Gander NL and there is a huge Coast Guard presence, presumably the response team to this environmental disaster, hopefully they do pump it out and not just patch it up.

The response has been dismal at best. Grant's explanation is worse. Imagine if there is a big spill offshore on one of these transocean drill rigs. It will be a disaster.

If the CCG is going to try and permanently stop this leak, the only way will be to pump the oil out of the hull. If not, I feel, they will be going back again as the vessel will continue to rot away especially in the area of any patch applied because the paint will be burnt away

And when it springs a leak again? And when it springs a leak again? C'mon, this is a band-aid solution. Where's the plan for the long term?
