The core purpose of Marine Atlantic's existence is to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. That is the TCH link to Nova Scotia. The Terminal should have been in Newfoundland after all, that's why the business exists. Furthermore, the toll to cross that strait is way too high, it should cost no more than what it would cost if you were to drive the 90 miles. then again, it's just another case od discrimination against the people of Newfoundland..

I think Marine Atlantic should get their priorities straight first, there should be more attention paid into training these new captains,I travel Marine Atlantic every year we talk a lot to the staff as they know us now we travel so often, now from the mouths of the staff on the ship is that the older captains who have been sailing are all retiring after doing the job for 35-40 years now you have these new captains coming on and they are not used to these big ships and you can't expect them to know the same as someone who had done the job for a lifetime.Over all the last few years I have been very nervous with Marine Atlantic all these new boats and always a problem never on time, this last accident could have been a disaster.

So they now have a new HQ in North Sydney and are building a new Terminal. What have they got a Port Aux Basque?
