I have driven from St. John's to Clarenville on a few occasions in the past year and between the Bull Arm traffic and Long Harbour traffic it is crazy on the highway. A lot of speeding, racing to the end of passing lanes etc. Couple that with people leaving after several night shifts in a row to drive to some of the more remote parts of the Island and I am surprised there are not more accidents and fatalities. If the provincial government had any clue they would fund several extra RCMP officers strictly for highway patrol for the next couple of years and start dishing out some tickets. I bet any Mountie worth his salt could pay his salary with traffic fines.
