Office to Advance Women Apprentices organizing event in St. John’s

Electrician Joann Greeley — who worked through her apprenticeship levels to journeyperson status — will be talking about what it takes to get from Point A to Point B in a presentation, question and answer event on Thursday, Dec. 12.

JoAnn Greeley, a journeywoman electrician, will be speaking at an Office to Advance Women Apprentices event in St. John’s Thursday.

The event is being put off by the Office to Advance Women Apprentices and will be held at 1 p.m. at Fairfield Inn and Suites, 199 Kenmount Rd. in St. John’s.

The Office to Advance Women Apprentices has set a goal of having more skilled tradeswomen telling their own stories, speaking about challenges and achievements, as motivation for women to consider and pursue successful trades work.

The event on Thursday is a test run and a series of similar events, with a range of presenters, is being considered for the new year.

Anyone interested in the event this week is encouraged to email cifowler@womenapprentices.ca.
